D.j. (illus. by Smith's drawing of a battle w/the Comanches in 1847), 179 pp., illus. index. He came to Texas in 1842, helped John Neely Bryan build the first house in Dallas, was captured by Comanches, joined the Texas Rangers. Always carried his journal & drawing equipment, using them to record his experiences. Edited by his granddaughter. Very scarce to rare.
