Original brown embossed cloth w/gilt lettering & lines on spine, new endpapers, 335 pp., frontis., illus. Spots on edge of page block, cloth lightly speckled, top of spine worn. Lt. Collins was born in East Tennessee & moved to Texas, settling in Decatur. Early in 1862, he joined the Confederate army & rose to the rank of lieutenant in Co. B, 15th Texas Cavalry, Cleburne's Division. Fought at Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Nashville, etc. Collins' narrative is an especially good one, well written, informative, he was an excellent observer. IN TALL COTTON 25; NEVINS I, 72; DORNBUSCH II, 1063B. Very nice copy. Rare.
