Blue cloth w/paper spine label, 332 pp. Ruxton (1821-1848) was s British soldier, explorer, and travel writer. In 1846, he went to Mexico to observe the Mexican War, then he traveled north through Texas to Santa Fe, then through Colorado. After working as a mountain man in the Rocky Mountains, about which he wrote Ruxton of the Rockies, he then moved to St. Louis. Early edition. Bookplate.
