Cincinatti & N.Y. J. R. Hawley & Co. 1865 1st. Cloth Very Good Blue cloth w/gilt spine lettering, 394 pp., 24 full page woodcut illus., rectangular frontis. Nicely rebound. Some browning on the frontis & brown spots on some pages throughout. No errata sheet. Does not have oval frontis but does have "Indian Red" as last three words on line 3, pp. 151; so cannot determine if 1st or 2nd state. BTB #162-nteresting reminiscence of a Yankee who became a Texas Ranger & later a Union spy. A remarkable narrative. Tate-"A good first-hand account, filled with details about ranger operations against Comanches." Braislin--"A rare & much sought after book. A fire destroyed virtually the entire edition, only about 100 copies being saved." Not only an excellent Texana item but also a rare Civil War book. Price:

Does have oval frontis but has "Jim Ned" as last three words on line 3, pp. 151; so it has some indications of both the 1st state & the 2nd state. Basic Tx.
