Green cloth w/gilt lettering (some speckling on edges, spine faded), 276 pp. (TEG), illus., frontis of the Battle-Flag of the Third Texas Cavalry Regiment. Small 1/2" minor stain on the outer lower edge of p.100-206. Some brown spots on title page, frontis tissue guard, & endpapers. Otherwise a very nice tight book. The Third Texas Cavalry was very active in the Western campaigns. Barron recalls the soldiers' lives in camp and in the field. Nevins, Vol. 1, pp.54-"Even though based for the most part on memory, and occasionally drifting off on dramatic tangents, this narrative is a standard source for Texas in the Civil War." A very nice copy.
