About Our Store
We specialize in books on Texas, Southwest, Mexico, and the Civil War in Texas and the West. Our Mexican selections pertain mainly to the Mexican Revoulution and Mexico as related to Texas history.
We are now in our fourth generation of Bookselling. Our business was started by the late Rev. Elijah Shettles in the early 1900's. Later my Grandparents, Clark & Bessie Wright, took over the business and operated under the name Clark Wright Bookseller. After the passing of my Grandfather, my Grandmother continued to run the business in El Paso, Tx. In the early 1980's she moved to Waxahachie, TX. After several years here she retired fom bookselling. In the 1990's my Father took over and changed the business name to The Wright Collection. The family has sold books primarily by mail for three generations. I joined the business in 2002 and began my oddysey of learning the book trade. Later that year we started listing books online through many listing services. The past two years have been great. With the implementation of our own website we look forward to more direct contact with our valued customers new and old.
We issue several catalogs throughout the year. These catalogs include many items that can't be found on our website. We would love to add you to our mailing list. If you are interested in receiving our catalog by U.S. mail or by email, please contact me by phone or email and we will gladly add you to our mailing list.
Do You Buy Books?
Yes. We are interested in books on Texas, Mexico, the Southwest and the Civil War as related to Texas. We will purchase libraries, collections, or single books. Although we do offer some Mysteries and Fiction on our website, we do not actively acquire them.
